BIOGRAPHY
Daughter of ventriloquist Edgar Bergen, Candice Bergen studied history and literature at the University of Pennsylvania and actively participated in theatrical performances given there. In 1963, she was crowned best actress on campus.

The following year, she became a model in New York, and at the request of Sidney Lumet , she appeared as the lead in his film The Group (1966). Her dream physique does not go unnoticed, she immediately plays a young teacher in The Canonry of the Yangtze by Robert Wise , a role which allows her to play opposite Steve McQueen .
